My new neighbors have 4 little kids. I'm guessing 1 to 7 or 8 years old. They put one of those little blow up pools in their backyard and those kids are having a blast. I think the most joyous sound in the world is kids playing and laughing. Neighborhood ungrade.

there’s a woman at my gym who has followed the exact same routine for months. same treadmill, same machines, same order, same time every day. a guy tried giving her workout tips this morning and said, “you know if you switched things up you’d probably see better results.” she just smiled and said, “i’m not chasing better results. i’m maintaining what i fought hard to keep. this body survived chemo and a marriage ending. we understand each other now.” the entire gym got quiet after that.

I get the sense that a lot of Christian parents are fairly content to raise their kids very similarly to how unbelievers raise their kids, giving them the same type of education, doing virtually all of the same activities, enjoying pretty much all of the same entertainment, sharing very similar daily schedules and long-term goals for their future, and the only real difference is that they do all of this while being really “nice” people who believe in Jesus. But surely, knowing the Lord of the Universe will have a more dramatic effect on our lives than that.

I still can’t get over the fact that tens of thousands of people publicly celebrated the assassination of a young father of two children who just went to college campuses and talked to people. I don’t think I’ll ever get over it.

As some of you who have known me for a while here know, I’m an atheist. However, I’ve also said that I wish I could believe. I was christened as a child and used to believe. As I’ve got older, I’ve become adamant that there’s no such thing as God. But over the last few years, I’ve been softening and trying to believe again. I’ve asked for so-called enlightenment, but nothing has happened. I read the Bible when I was a child but not since, so I’ve decided to start reading it again. It’s now my nightly ritual before bed. Please send prayers 🙏🏻 let’s hope some enlightenment or something meaningful happens. If God or Jesus don’t come to me after that, I’ll have to carry on being an atheist/realist.
