Beginning July 16, 2023, the Whitman Mission NHS Visitor Center will be open from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. seven days a week. The park’s picnic area, trails, and grounds continue to be open daily, sunrise to sunset. We hope to see you soon!

The Whitman Mission NHS visitor center will be closing at 2pm today, Dec. 23, 2022, due to inclement weather. We will also be closed tomorrow, Saturday Dec. 24, 2022. We will be back to our regular hours Tuesday Dec. 27, 2022.

Beginning Sept. 11th, 2022 Whitman Mission Visitor Center will has switched to its winter hours. The visitor center will be closed Sunday & Monday, & open Tues-Sat from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The park’s picnic area, trails, and grounds continue to be open daily sunrise to sunset.

Due to winter weather advisories for this evening and tomorrow, the Whitman Mission NHS Visitor Center will open at 10am on Thursday, January 6, 2022.

UPDATE: Due to winter weather conditions, the Whitman Mission NHS Visitor Center will be closing today at 1:30 PM. The visitor center will be closed for New Years Eve and New Years Day. We will reopen and resume normal winter hours on 1/4/2022.

The Whitman Mission NHS Visitor Center will be closing at noon Wed November 24th and November 25th for Thanksgiving. The park grounds will be stay open so you can explore the park and find a turkey in the wild instead of the one that may be on your plate. Happy Thanksgiving!

Today is Daylight Savings Time when our clocks fall back an hour so the sun rises earlier in the winter. This is not the only time change for Whitman Mission NHS this winter though. Starting today the Whitman Mission NHS will be open Tues-Sat from 9am until 4pm each day.

Whether fixing some well-worn tools or weaving a new basket, the colder weather and shorter days also brought with them a chance to create. By the time the days grew longer, all that effort would be all the more appreciated! What projects are you going to pick up this winter?

While everything else seemed to come to a halt, this year has been a year of staying in and bringing new projects to life. Traditionally, winter has been the season to do the same.

Fog blankets the fields, frost encases the trees, and the days have grown short. This is the time of year that Tílewkeyˀkt's band would gather here at weyiíllet, enjoying the comparative warmth of the valley. Year after year, this area was home throughout the winter.
