@Vheeki_tori I disagree. He strategised hard using everything at his disposal to get that exact effect on the world. He succeeded. If he grew up now I’m sure it’d be a similar story but obviously he’d have done it with today’s ‘norms’ and constraints.

Lowkey, I feel like Michael Jackson is a bit overrated. Yes, he was an incredible singer and an amazing dancer (especially his breakdancing and signature moves), but a huge part of his massive popularity came from the era he rose in. There was no social media, so every appearance or performance felt like a rare, once-in-a-lifetime event, making fans go absolutely crazy. Plus, because he broke through so early and pioneered certain things, it amplified his legend in ways that might not happen the same today.

When I was 20, I met a beautiful girl at work and we became work friends immediately—lunches together every day, shopping, carpool, etc. She had a boyfriend whom she was “in love” with… but she eventually cheated on him with a police officer and found out the officer had a girlfriend. She told me with a straight face, “I’m going to report that he raped me,” and then smirked. I told her she couldn’t lie like that; it’s against the law. When she saw how shocked, disgusted, and serious I was, she tried to say she was joking. But it made me view women differently. I had no idea women were capable of doing that. I stopped being friends with her, and she eventually got half the office to hate me 😩😭😑🙃
