Ghost of Yotei is a fantastic game and it’s hilarious to think over 3 million in sales is somehow not good enough stop giving rage engagement farmers the time of day, they are literally trying to cash in by making you upset

@BenjaminLong16 @longislandviper Way more games to play and not at the height of a lock down. I’ll be curious to see the tail it has. Many people having to make consumer choices may have opted for Battlefield, Outer Worlds etc. I think the more telling number will be what are its sales 6-12 months

Ghost of Yotei budget: 60m Ghost of Yotei sales: 3.3m That’s roughly $231,000,000 in revenue against a 60,000,000 budget. How can that NOT be considered a successful game? I’m legit confused. And from any comparisons it’s at least comparable to Ghost of Tsushima’s sales.

Here is a publisher trick. When you don’t have an absolute win, you pick the highest number in a single category (downloads) or timeframe (fastest this week), and you say that loudly. If they have the absolute numbers, they would say that “outselling Tsushima in all ways!” Without marketing “qualifiers”. The way they frame it tells you much. It’s no failure, it made money, but it’s not the huge success people are making it out to be either.

PlayStation needs to sell ~14.1 million PS5 consoles this year to surpass total sales of the PS4. They are at 80.3M PS5 units sold vs 94.4M PS4 units sold in the same time period. I don't think they get there due to the price increases though. And TikTok of course.
