Was honored to attend the amazing @WiEMecon conference hosted by @BeckerFriedman this weekend and give some advice for more junior academics. Below I share my top 10, which benefited from assistance from many of my very wise friends!

Huge thanks to the organisers of @WiEMecon! What a fantastic conference - wonderful papers & opportunities to share career advice for female economists. It was fab to discuss @Caro_cly’s great paper on #MeToo and labour market outcomes.

Another super cool paper form @WiEMecon - presented by @vini_singh_: "How Power Shapes Behavior: Evidence from Physicians" by Manasvini Singh & Stephen Schwab Amazing health data from the military! And I love the "results as a limerick" summaries of all of Vini's WPs. dropbox.com/s/80qr9jucgsat…

Thank you @WiEMecon for the opportunity to get to present on a topic that is particularly relevant to many TT female profs and their partners! Paper draft here, thoughts welcome - dx.doi.org/10.2139/ssrn.4…
Becker Friedman Institute for Economics@BeckerFriedman

Track A continues with @ambarlaforgia (@BerkeleyHaas) presenting work with @julia_bodner showing that chain-acquired fertility clinics increase IVF volume and live birth rates. Effects likely driven by resource and knowledge transfers. Carola Frydman (@KelloggSchool) to discuss.

I don’t study tariffs but this paper seemed super important. First question from the audience: “So are all previous papers wrong?”😳 Discussant said she went through all stages of grief while coming to terms w the implications. “Missing Tariffs, False Imputation, and the Trade Elasticity” - no draft online yet but keep an eye out!
Becker Friedman Institute for Economics@BeckerFriedman

Back from the break: @FeodoraTeti (@LMU_Muenchen) presenting new estimates of trade responses to trade tariffs, overcoming several measurement and estimation challenges. @m_bombardini (@BerkeleyHaas) will discuss.

@Caro_cly from @Unibocconi showing that women exposed to more toxic workplaces have higher quit rates following the #MeToo📷 movement. Women face a double penalty: experiencing toxic behavior and having to avoid certain workplaces. Discussion from @abicadams (@OxfordEconDept).
