MPD confirms another mass shooting and homicide.
Minneapolis Police investigating evening shooting that injured four adults and killed one
July 20, 2026 — The Minneapolis Police Department is investigating a multiple-person shooting that occurred in the 1800 block of Nicollet Avenue.
The following preliminary information is subject to change.
At approximately 8:20 p.m., on Sunday, July 19, 2026, Fifth Precinct officers responded to the report of a shooting with multiple people injured.
Officers located four injured men at the scene. A 43-year-old man with apparent non-life-threatening injuries, a 24-year-old man with potentially life-threatening injuries, and a 28-year-old man with potentially life-threatening injuries were transported by ambulance to Hennepin Healthcare. The 28-year-old man later died at the hospital. A fourth man, age 36, was transported by ambulance to North Memorial Health with apparent non-life-threatening injuries.
A fifth man, age 26, later walked into Hennepin Healthcare with an apparent non-life-threatening gunshot wound.
Preliminary information indicates that gunfire erupted outside a business in the 1800 block of Nicollet Avenue, injuring the five men.
Officers secured the scene and canvassed the area.
MPD Forensic Scientists processed the scene and collected evidence.
MPD Homicide investigators are working to determine the sequence of events that led to the shooting.
There have been no arrests.
Currently, there is no known connection between this shooting and the earlier multiple-person shooting in the 2900 block of Hennepin Avenue South.
