With the Minnesota Wild eliminated from the 2026 Stanley Cup Playoffs, here’s a brief look at their offseason ahead: #mnwild 2026-27 Projected Cap Hit: $90,489,166 2026-27 NHL Cap Ceiling: $104,000,000 #mnwild 2026-27 Cap Space: $13,510,834 Pending UFA’s: RW Mats Zuccarello (38 yo, $4.125M) LW Marcus Johansson (35, $800k) RW Vladimir Tarasenko (34, $4.75M) C Michael McCarron (31, $900k) LW/RW Nick Foligno (38, $4.5M) LW Robby Fabbri (30, $775k) RHD Zach Bogosian (35, $1.25M) RHD Jeff Petry (38, $775k) Pending RFA’s: RW Bobby Orr Brink (24, $1.5M) LHD Daemon Hunt (23, $775k) LHD Carson Lambos (23, $863k) RHD David Spacek (23, 862k) G Samuel Hlavaj (24, $875k) TO BE ADDRESSED: 1. NEED Top line center — Center depth/decision making (and injuries were the downfall of the Wild’s playoff exit). - Do they have the package to go make a monumental trade? (Stramel, Yurov, Lambos, 27’ 1st, Gustavsson, etc 2. Quinn Hughes extension — Hughes flourished in Minny and his chemistry with Brock Faber was debatably the best D pair in the NHL. Lots to feel good about. 3. Resigning Questions — Priorities - Zuccy have another year in him? - McCarron was a great add, expect a lot of interest in him. How expensive will he be? - Johansson & Tarasenko were streaky but were really instrumental in depth scoring. Run it back? - Nick Foligno for the 4th line again? Retire? 4. Defensive Depth — Wild have multiple promising young D, but the back half of the D struggled mightily in playoffs. - Hunt, Lambos, Spacek all deserve a good look next year Contracts to ponder moving — Fillip Gustavsson (6x$6.8M) 🤷♂️ set to start brand new contract Jake Middleton (3x$4.35M)
