Had a dream last night my wife and I stumbled across what was most likely the 1st jaguar to have been seen in Colorado. We took photos, was super excited, then I woke up....genuinely devastating

Munchie has a fracture in his tibia/fibula and is going in to the vet this Friday to look at potential amputation. He and his buddy are approximately 2 and incredibly healthy otherwise so fingers crossed we can rehabilitate and rehome

Some days I get a call at work about two rabbits needing a home and one has a break in the leg that the team doesn’t have the resources or training for so it’s either I adopt or they euthanize…..so anyway meet Mocha & Munchie

Our dedicated Animal Care and Veterinary Medicine teams are closely monitoring Rudy, our beloved 32-year-old Critically Endangered black rhinoceros, as he enters end-of-life care due to the progression of his chronic health conditions and age-related mobility challenges. During his time at DZCA, Rudy has been managed for arthritis and Iron Overload Disorder (IOD), a condition that causes iron to build up in vital organs and can lead to serious health complications over time. Rudy continues to voluntarily participate in many aspects of his healthcare and treatment, including blood draws that help teams monitor his iron levels and overall health. That participation is a testament to the trust and bond he shares with the people who have cared for him over nearly a decade at DZCA. While Rudy’s mobility and comfort needs have changed in recent months, he continues to engage with his care team, enjoy enrichment and participate in daily routines. Our teams are adjusting his care plan frequently to prioritize his comfort, dignity and wellbeing every step of the way. Rudy has become a cornerstone of DZCA over the past 10 years, capturing the hearts of staff, volunteers and guests alike with his larger-than-life personality.
