I think The Body in the Library might be my favourite too, but it’s a tough choice.

#OnThisDay in 1890 'Queen of Crime' Agatha Christie was born. Our favourite story has to be 'The Body in the Library'.

Hi @WestNorthants no one came and did the rubbish collection in Semilong on Thursday - or on Friday or Saturday to make it up - so after three of the hottest days in the year out in the sun, it's starting to really smell. Any chance of a collection on Monday?

@pajjy42 @jo_thomas01 I don't like Stilton, but I can imagine that that would really work if you do. If you know what I mean!

Courgettes. I have courgettes #inmyfridge. Apart from ratatouille, any other suggestions what I can do with them? I was thinking maybe a pasta dish, but open to suggestions. #Inmykitchen #Vegbox

Guess what? Wednesday night is points failure and broken down train night… today it was all looking ok right up until the point where my train was due to leave…
Verity Wilde@WildeV

For the second night in a row, Euston is chaos with delays & cancellations left right & centre. @LNRailway the 1656 was cancelled, the 1719 is delayed, the 1726 is only 8 carriages and was too full to board 10 minutes before departure - how am I meant to get back to Northampton?

@WildeV Good evening, in this case I would advise contacting the Customer Relations team who will be best suited to assist in sorting out a claim for this scenario: Phone - 0333 311 0006 Email - customer.relations@wmtrains.co.uk Apologies about this - Jonty

@LNRailway Thanks Ben - how do I delay repay for what is going to be at least an hour delay given all the various cancellations I outlined? The form only gives one option, but I’m now cancelled and too full to board on the next..

@WildeV I'm afraid every service towards Euston has been affected by a broken down train, apologies for the delays. -Ben

@JanetEmson @BL_Publishing OH that does! I love those really atmospheric ones - now I'm trying to remember what I read recently that had someone trying to find their way through London in the fog, but it just won't come to me.

And so it came to pass that on the third day Ben did manage to exceed his word quota (812) and thus set the stage for the final confrontation between good and evil 😛

@JanetEmson I have that on my tbr pile, thank you for the nudge. I recently read one of the Cesare Aldo mysteries - set in Medici-era Florence - and liked it so much i bought another. Also just finished the 6th Su Lin mystery by Ovidia Yu, set in WW2 Singapore - the 8th is out in June

@JanetEmson @BroadhurstBooks The only hardbacks I buy (or ask for) these days are nonfiction, especially ones where I’m not convinced a paperback will arrive quickly (if ever). And they still sit on the shelf for ages because they’re too big and heavy for the commute. I do buy airport versions tho…

@BroadhurstBooks I know that if I buy a book in hardback inevitably I still won’t have read it by the time it’s out in paperback. So now I rarely buy hardbacks. Plus I can support two authors by buying two paperbacks for more or less the same price as one hardback.

Having ambivalent feelings about hardback books As a bookseller, I know they are a vital source of income for publishers, bookshops etc But as a reader, I worry they create a two-tier reading system, with your access to new books restricted by your ability to pay for hardbacks

@rachkmc @RevDaniel Not gonna lie, it would be fun to have a wave of friends to lovers after so many enemies to lovers over the last few years. And I say that as someone who likes e to l and is currently reading one. I just fancy a change.

@greg_jenner We saw it in the cinema - I want to say just pre-covid, but I think the different title in different countries thing didn't help it at all - it confused people and made people thing the different names were because it was pants. Which it wasn't/isn't.
