@AfricanKhaIeesi There are nuanced discussions to be had about romance books in general and HR in particular but some of these people just do not understand the romance genre (or hockey, frankly) and are upset that RR isn't like... the Christopher Isherwood of hockey novels.

That’s my thing like you’re bullying a real human being over FICTIONAL characters!!! Her writing is certainly not perfect and you can criticize it. But some people also forget first and foremost these books are gay hockey smut and were never going to be that deep.

I think a lot of RR’s writing issues come from the fact that she sees staying in the closet as selfish & cowardly. It’s the main source of conflict for Skip too and it’s only fixed when Scott “gets over it” and is “brave” to kiss Kip. Which is why it TLG she justifies Ilya being-

@brdmoedr A great question to genuinely ask is "what do you want me to do to fix this situation?" like an actual, practical thing you can accomplish. If the answer is basically "nothing" you can just shrug and move on, because some people online really just want to be mad.

Even if Rachel Reid has a favorite character, that's actually not a crime. In every book I've tried to write, I have a character I've enjoyed maybe a bit more than the other. Every writer is like this.
