@aspiringpeasant Doubtful anyone cares in NC. Depends I guess how law abiding someone wants to be. In my home state it’s now legal since 2024 but Federal law still prohibits it.

I’m happy w/ maybe 10% of my landings. The other 90% aren’t bad, they could just be better. I went a little further down the runway than ideal, was a little off centerline, touched down a bit firmer than I’d like. None of these things are dangerous, but they aren’t perfect. It’s both a science & an art. How soon do you cut the power to idle, where do you raise the nose ever so slightly to cut the descent rate, how much rudder do you kick at the last second to align the nose w/ centerline in a crosswind. Where was your aim-point & when did you shift it to the horizon? How far did you touch down? Did you go really far down the runway trying to grease it on? Smooth is great when it works, but it’s pretty far down my list when it comes to judging the landing. On a short or contaminated (wet, snowy, icy, etc.) runway, smooth is a complete accident & can be counterproductive…I’m not thinking about smooth at all, I want the wheels down forcefully to break through the contamination or to ensure I’m not floating above runway that’s being wasted. Get the wheels down & let the brakes do their work. It’s fun to try for smooth sometimes on long runways, but I tend to use those opportunities to practice my short field technique. Don’t want to got to Maui or Lihue in gusty winds & have not done short field in a while. So, at about 200’ I’ll change the aimpoint (if you do it much higher, you get off the Glideslope & the jet starts announcing that), see a third red PAPI & cross the runway threshold at 50’ or lower. Anyway, 90% of my landings leave something for me to learn from & do better next time. I’ve found that to be helpful in other areas of life, too.

@RacingFarmer Lincoln wanted war. You & I both anticipated that the cause of the country would be advanced by making the attempt to provision Ft Sumter, even if it should fail; & it is no small consolation now to feel that our anticipation is justified by the result." -Lincoln to Fox

Looks like I've managed to draw out a few looney toons, that are unable to understand the concept that the individual states were and are their own sovereign entities and were not bound to the Union forever, and had the right leave citing bot the DoI and 10thA

@JonathanKMartin Well Spruce Knob is a special place. I was just a young boy maybe 5(1970)when I was with my grandpa and uncle’s Turkey hunting and fishing. Duck canvas tent, old camp stove and army cots.

@huzzabuzatrolol @smalls2672 It’s not a gotcha DUDE. It shows the attitude of the federal government towards blacks and slavery. They didn’t give 2 cents about it.

@Aaron1598618 @smalls2672 That neither the Congress of the US, nor the people or governments of the non-slaveholding States have the constitutional right to legislate upon or interfere with slavery in any of the slaveholding States in the Union. Vote: 162-0 2/11/1861

@Aaron1598618 @smalls2672 SC attacked Sumter and was seen as insurrection despite no deaths. Lincoln attacked VA to stop the rebellion even though they didn’t fire a shot.

@WildmanWV @smalls2672 First of all he didn't do that. The Confederacy attacked the union openly. Secondly you're admitting it's about slavery. In the Confederacy you could just murder and rape any black person because they're your property. That's what you're defending

@SamaHoole I’ve had bristish beef and it’s not close to tenderness and flavour to American beef. Don’t be fooled I’ve lived in Europe for 12 years and can say beef here does not compare.

The cheapest beef in a British supermarket is on a different planet to anything sitting on an American shelf. Here's why. American beef: - 6 growth hormones. Standard. No labelling. - Ractopamine: a muscle-bulking drug. Banned in 168 countries. Legal in the US. - 95% finished in feedlots. Concrete pens, no grass, no movement. - Final months on corn and soya. Stomachs not built for it. - Routine antibiotics on healthy cows. Standard. - Force-fattened to 1,300+ lbs as fast as possible. - Bred for size. The fat is white. It comes from grain. British beef: - Growth hormones banned since 1989. - Ractopamine banned. Imports tested and rejected if traces show up. - Cows live the bulk of their lives on grass. The default, not the premium. - Native breeds. Hereford. Aberdeen Angus. Shorthorn. Galloway. - Routine antibiotics on healthy cows: banned in 2022. - Slower-grown. Slaughtered around 22 months. - The fat is yellow. That's what grass-fed looks like. Omega-3s, vitamin E, the nutrients your body actually wants. Both versions are still elite foods. But there are levels to this.
