My thoughts go out to the family and friends of Tony at this incredibly difficult time.

🙋♂️ 𝗔𝗹𝗮𝗻 𝗦𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗿 The greatest goalscorer of his generation, @alanshearer arrived at #Rovers from Southampton for a British record fee in 1992. The Football Writers’ Association Player of the Year in 1993-94, he reached 30 goals in three successive seasons and became the first player to score 100 Premier League goals. His crowning glory came in the 1994-95 campaign, as his 34 league goals fired Rovers to the Premier League title, with Shearer scooping the PFA Footballer of the Year Award in the process. He also earned 25 England caps during his time at Ewood Park, before leaving to join boyhood club Newcastle United in 1996, having scored an incredible 130 goals in 171 appearances in Rovers’ colours.
