@ThatOneShowBC Gaffigan is not in my top 5 comedians, but I think he has one of the best arguments for ‘timeless’ because his work is so grounded in the human experience. And he is also brilliant. I would not be surprised if he makes people laugh in 200 years.

@ThatOneShowBC I did propose Chappelle, though his more recent turn undermines that to some degree in my opinion. He offered Carlin. I could see that, but I feel that Carlin is mostly rooted in time and context. I proffered Jim Gaffigan.

My son asked me a question, and I’m curious how my friends would answer it. Theater in the late 1500’s was considered low brow entertainment much like stand up comedy is seen now. What stand up comics might be considered the Shakespeare of our time by future generations?
