From being sworn in this morning, to our first Clark County Commission meeting and my first vote as your District D Commissioner, today reminded me how proud I am to represent our community.

It is with great sadness that our family announce the passing of William O’Neill McCurdy Sr.

Our Shoes That Fit event today at Cahlan Elementary was incredible! Thank you to the staff, teachers, students—and our volunteers who made this event happen. Seeing all the smiles from ear to ear was a the perfect way to start the day.

We had a great time at the annual Historic Westside generation vs generation baseball game today. Shoutout to Tae Manor for bringing us together and the players & coaches for making this year's game a success!

Honored to join the Lenguas Maternas celebration and uplift the languages, traditions, and stories that shape our community. It’s a privilege to be part of events like this that celebrate our roots and the diversity that makes Clark County strong.

Our #BlackHistoryMonth celebration continued today with our annual African-American Leadership Summit. Thank you to the schools, teachers, administrators and especially the students who continue to prove that some of the best and brightest in the country come from Clark County!

As we continue our celebration of #BlackHistoryMonth, today we held our annual Heroes in the 106 luncheon to honor those who have served our community and who continue to light the way for so many to follow. Thank you to all who came out and congratulations to our honorees!

Tonight we officially kicked off the County’s celebration of #BlackHistoryMonth, lighting the iconic Welcome To Las Vegas Sign Red, Black & Green and honoring those in our community who continue to uplift everyone around them. Stay tuned for more #BHM celebrations all month long!

#BlackHistoryMonth 🔴⚫️🟢 @CommishMcCurdy hosted a celebration at the “Welcome to Las #Vegas” sign. He was joined by @CommishTick and @CommishNaft. They lit the lights on the sign and recognized organizations dedicated to serving our local African American community.

Our #MLKDay Parade is one of the biggest in the country because it’s always among the best anywhere. Thank you to everyone who came out to enjoy the amazing weather and kick the year off with so much love as we continue to honor the dream. Happy MLK Day!

The Southern Nevada Homelessness Continuum of Care (SNHCoC) is looking for volunteers for the 2026 Point-in-Time (PIT) count. The PIT count occurs every other year in Clark County to measure the number of people experiencing homelessness on a single night in January. This count is part of a nationwide initiative to better understand homelessness and includes a short survey to gather information about the needs and circumstances of those affected. This count includes people in shelters, transitional housing, and those experiencing unsheltered homelessness. This past weekend, young men from across District D came to the Nevada 4-H Camp Alamo for Camp Doing The Right Thing. Students heard from speakers on leadership development, entrepreneurship, and self-development!

Today we cut the ribbon and opened the new West Las Vegas Library on the Historic Westside! From day one, the community was involved, and thanks to their voice and collaboration across government, we made it happen. Thank you to all who made this great day a reality!
