Learned so much at this workshop! Using the models I see in papers seems so much easier now. Absolutely check out the #PhylogeneticComparativeMethods book if you use (or want to use) phylogenies in your research!

The most exciting finding, in my opinion, was that reproductive fitness was lower in fish with more rainbow trout (and less cutthroat trout) ancestry. Native cutthroat trout of the North Fork Shoshone River probably owe their continued existence to this!

@mtanichthys I've just cleaned off the roots and put the plants straight into my aquarium planter filed with LECA. There seems to be a pretty minor adjustment period where you might lose an old leaf or two, but new leaves start growing just as quickly with enough light.

@WillRosenth I actually want to try that! Any suggestions on how to convert them from soil? Seems people suggest different things, like propagating in water first, or transferring them dry and watering the leca normally before submerging in water, or transferring directly to leca in water.

New "houseplant". I think it's Alocasia Polly? This thing was only $5, which I feel like is the impulse buy price point for me.

@mtanichthys I've found that Alocasia grows quite well in LECA with its roots submerged in an aquarium. Yours is obviously doing well, but the aquarium route might be fun to try!

The newest leaf on the Alocasia Polly is fairly sizeable now. So shiny, too.
