The “Great Britain ranks below the 50th state” thing is something I always knew. The one thing you learn about traveling anywhere is that tourism by its nature funnels you to preferred places. You’re not going to England to walk the blue collar streets of Sheffield. You go to the state or Stonehenge. What you do learn by living in America is that even in the “lesser” neighborhoods, the people have more than most of the populated areas of European countries. My SIL is a victim of the “oh I’d love to live there” mentality. The truth is, most people would choose any suburb in America over any residential zone in 90% of Europe. It feels cool to think, “oh I live 10 minutes from the Eiffel Tower!” Until you realize 10 minutes from the Eiffel Tower means you live in an incredibly downtrodden neighborhood. Sure that quaint and cute $500 a night room on the Seine feels special when you travel. But that’s NOT where you’d live. There’s a reason so many try to immigrate to America despite living in in all these exotic or historic places. Simply put, America is better. The only people who don’t appreciate that are the ones who were spoiled by a life lived here.

If the max you can earn in the UK as a CEO is around £200k annually because of the Green Party policy - there will be minimal tax collected, so how will the Greens fund their expensive policies??? Whoever is voting Greens needs their head testing. There will be no money for anything!

I don't think most people have any idea what it takes to run a business turning over £70 billion annually, with over 300,000 employees

So, using your policies hardworking taxpayers can now increase their taxable contribution to the NHS by about 25% - 40% Once that's put into place they will have less disposable income to spend in the wider economy, so private businesses will have to start laying people off. Cue the subsequent increase in the benifits bill, again funded by workers, and the resulting further reduction in disposable income, and again more layoffs. Lather, rinse, repeat. Welcome to the world of runaway hyperinflation.

@caibyy Football needs to get wage inflation under control, but it needs to happen across the board via FIFA/UEFA. There are various proposals currently about how to do this.

The 10:1 pay ratio is genuinely such a stupid policy. So many sports like F1 and Football would be well and truly destroyed. Others like Rugby and Cricket would be kneecapped

@StAustellAdam @PolitlcsUK If they also implement their £15/hour minimum wage policy, the effect would be that the minimum wage in the NHS would be around £29,250 pa, which would be the senior consultant could actually be paid more.

@StAustellAdam @PolitlcsUK Yes, let's. A senior consultant in the NHS earns around £155k. This would mean the lowest paid person would need to earn £15,000 pro rata a year. Hardly an outrageous wage and still below the current UK National Living Wage.

Getting Glasner in the first place was a statement - winning the FA Cup, community shield, getting Europe and possibly winning it in our first season was a bigger one. Taking the best ever manager from another upwardly mobile club would really feel like a continuation of that
