@JerseyPolice Today’s near encounter with an e-scooter was a very happy man going along the road before mounting the pavement and zooming off. No shirt, no helmet, no problem 😉 - nobody challenging him…

As always, we wait for something bad to happen and then think what we can do to sort something that should have never got to this.

Amazingly after the two serious accidents ,walking back today from the Hospital to Havre de Pas I saw E scooters three times driven on the road at about 30 mph by people with no helmets on yesterday one up King St and another on Broad St!!

@BBCJersey No point talking. Do something about it! - There is barely a day that goes by that I don't see someone riding one, often along pavements or going the wrong way down roads, and rarely a helmet in sight...

@jerseyrobins E scooters remain illegal in Jersey, and yet from my observations our police force have chosen not to police them at all.
Users invariably don’t wear helmets.
It is lunacy.
More accidents will happen.
Let’s please police the problem @JerseyPolice

After two serious incidents in two days in Jersey I want to comment. We wonder why Jsy suffers a higher than UK rate of injuries to "vulnerable" road users. Jersey's infrastructure doesn't provide adequate separation for bikes and walkers from road traffic, let alone e-scooters.

@TheOnlyGuru @TonyMoretta I'm a fan of e-scooter hire in the right environment. Have invested in one of the big ones. But I'm afraid I've concluded that Jersey isn't the right environment. I won't protest at an eyes-wide-open trial of an "official" scheme, but I have grave fears about the safety risks.
