I've always assumed the "Israel tech superpower blabla" is meant for domestic consumption. I can't imagine anyone in the west supporting war crimes because apps and tomatos. Frankly there's something very un-western about this idea.

The most hilarious thing about this meme is that it's literally against their religion - Imami Shiite Islam - to wage war to spread Islam, before the Mahdi comes back (i.e. never, for our purposes). This is part of the reason why there is no little Shiite terrorism in Europe/US

@matthew_petti @chriskunzler it’s also a frontal assault on the petrodollar and yankee (hegemonic) self-perception. also, strictly speaking, shia jurisprudence largely views conditions for jizya absent today (i.a. a perfectly just ruler). unlike many sunni schools, we prefer other (more equal) taxation.

Unfortunately, as much as the accusations are obviously bogus to anyone who isn't braindead, when an Israeli agent with 112k followers on Twitter, who's being platformed by leading media figures, accuses me of being an "IDF spy who murdered Palestinians" (!), I have to respond. So here's me at age 15, on May Day 2002, saying on Israeli national TV that I'm gonna refuse army service. My shirt reads "After me, to become refusers!".

Gvir's party represents maybe like 6% of the electorate, and he's not representative of Israeli society writ large. However, Netanyahu appointed him and therefore he harmed the nation's reputation for personal gain.
