We are transforming Nairobi into a modern, clean and orderly city. Working closely with the county government, we have accelerated progress in waste management, street lighting, power connectivity, roads development, water, sewerage and the regeneration of Nairobi River. Thanks to our coordinated waste management plan, more than 40 trucks are already clearing legacy waste, with 150 more being mobilised within three weeks. We are installing over 40,000 solar and smart streetlights and rehabilitating 10,000 existing ones, rolling out power connections to informal settlements, and delivering 247km of new and rehabilitated roads with drainage and lighting, with 63 km already underway and 77 per cent complete. The Ng'ethu-Gigiri water works expansion will soon supply 51,000 cubic metres of water to the city while the Nairobi Rivers Regeneration Programme is on course, with the Gikomba Market river front having started. The construction of a modern Gikomba Market will provide a safe and dignified work space for nearly 5,000 traders, ease congestion and reduce fire risks. Received a progress report on the implementation of the Cooperation Agreement between the National Government and Nairobi City County, State House, Nairobi.

We are also working with Parliament to achieve the two-thirds gender rule and ensure fair representation of women in elective positions.

To uplift women entrepreneurs, we have committed KSh250 million to the Maendeleo ya Wanawake Sacco to expand access to affordable credit and strengthen their economic participation.

We value the contribution of women to the development of our nation. As Government, we are committed to empowering women as critical drivers of economic growth and social transformation.

I met Gengetone and Urbantone artistes, who shared deeply troubling experiences regarding the loss of rights to their music due to questionable contracts with foreign entities. They have lost over 700 songs, including 'Sipangwingwi', the song by Exray that powered our conversations in 2022. It is regrettable that our young creatives continue to face exploitation despite their immense talent and contribution to our cultural identity. I have facilitated legal support to ensure they are adequately represented in court, and we have agreed on practical measures to safeguard their interests and ensure they receive fair reward for their work. I have also asked the National Assembly, through the Majority Leader, to fast-track the Creative Economy Bill 2026 alongside critical copyright reforms. These measures are necessary to protect our artistes, strengthen intellectual property rights, and secure the future of Kenya’s creative economy. I also informed them that Government has established a digital portal on e-Citizen to aid royalty collection and distribution.
