@BeatriceHeinze I recently purchased Affinity too as my PS was a very old version (CS2) but still does the job 😂.
I’m also looking into LuckyStackWorker atm which could remove the use of Registax, winjupos and PS. Again it’s free!

@WilloTC @Celestron @TeleVueOptics Thanks for your response! I know them all but instead of Photoshop, I've Affinity Photo as an alternative.

#Jupier from yesterday evening (18 March 26 - 1940hrs UTC). Oval BA just leaving the disc on the right of the disc (4 o'clock position)
@Celestron C11 telescope and Player One Uranus C camera & @TeleVueOptics x2.5 Powermate

English

@BeatriceHeinze @Celestron @TeleVueOptics Thanks Beatrice. Software used was: Autostakkert 4 for stacking. Registax 6 for wavelets and winjupos to derotate the 10 images. Final tweaks in photoshop.
Other than PS all free software!
English

@WilloTC @Celestron @TeleVueOptics Beautiful astrophoto! What planetary processing software did you use for this image of Jupiter?
English

@KevinAstrokev So we are saying f18 😂. It’s a good comparison but with poor conditions it’s difficult to judge. But agree 27 over sampled by lots.

Paul - my results from testing barlow focal ratios, which may be of interest
Kevin Earp 🔭🌜☀️🪐⭐@KevinAstrokev
Testing different focal ratios with my new Baader VIP barlow. Theoretical optimum is between f/15 and f/20 with my camera. More work needed, including with my colour cam, but quite pleased with the results. F/27 seems definitely oversampled. Seeing was poorish sadly
English

@KevinAstrokev That said the powermate series are designed to remain around the same magnification regardless of sensors distance 🤷
English

@KevinAstrokev Have you got a link to any calculators for it? Looks like I’m having a busy Sunday 😂
English

@KevinAstrokev Just let me have the solution when you found it 😂😂😂
I always struggle with the tech aspects. More of a fake it till you make it guy 😂. Now I’m at the point of nearly there it might be time to read the manual though 😂
English

@WilloTC /2
I took images last night with this arrangement and with different spacers also.
Image size has reduced, which is good, but need to measure them to confirm what f-ratio i was getting. Also, need to process fully to see if it's improved the image or not. Better seeing would help
English

@KevinAstrokev You’ll only be able to get it’s true value in good seeing conditions through. In theory you should be using a 1.5 Barlow..I tried with the Uranus c and didn’t think it was good hence the switch to 2.5.
English

@WilloTC Haha fair enough!
Im just curious to see if it makes a worthwhile difference. We will see!
English

@KevinAstrokev I’ve never tried to work it out and I’ve got the ADC after the Barlow too 😂 point and shoot that’s how I fluke this hobby 😂
English

@WilloTC D'you know what f-ratio you're operating at? Ive learned that it varies depending on separation between barlow lens and sensor.
My "x2" barlow was increasing my f/10 scope to f/26 (not f/20 as I expected). F/26 is too much for my camera. Optimum f-ratio is 5-7x camera pixel size
English

@WilloTC Yup. Im out testing different barlow configurations, but seeing isn't great

For those who like telescope building or fiddling with optics, here is a new webpage on SkyInspector.co.uk about chosing the right black paint to reduce spurious reflections from the sidewalls of optical components skyinspector.co.uk/matt-black-pai…
Let me know if it is useful to you.
