Found one photo from the ren faire without my face! This little boy was too precious—he tapped my arm and got too nervous to say hi the first time he approached, so he just shouted “I love Link!” and ran away 😭 He found me again though with his mom to show me his sword ☺️💞

@Fish2Write Aaah that sounds so enticing! I’ll definitely read it again for sure, I still have it bookmarked all these years later 📖 It’ll be a lovely, nostalgic experience—fan fics like those are what made me love writing so much, I strived to tell stories like that 🥰

@Willow118 GIRRRLL you are in for a TREAT, I love love love the edited version! 👏 Without getting into spoilers I love the parts Inge added in between the chapters now, the tension is super good, the thematic family themes are fabulous and the purpose of all that angst is a lot clearer lol

Finally, someone hasn’t forgotten the classic ship war! 👏 Saria seems cute at first but gets weird and creepy really fast once Link is an adult. Ruto is like no way, she’s the joke ship right? But then I LOVE the way they lampshaded it with Mipha and Link in BotW. I adore MiphLink. Which brings it down to Malink and Zelink. Ah yes, those ship wars were FIERCE. I remember it well. I’m not opposed to Malink. That’s the logical choice, right? Link settles down with the farm girl at the homestead. Serves as a knight until he dies. The end. You could even argue that theory with Twilight Princess. It fits. But then again, that’s not the happily ever after fairy tale ending. Zelink is the fairy tale. Hero swoops in, saves the princess from the evil big bad guy, gets the girl in the end. (Well, sort of. Link would have to find her again as a child lol.) And I admit, I like fairy tale endings the best, I’m a sucker for those. So to me, I have historically supported Zelink the most for OoT. Aside from the Wild Era, I support Zelink the most in OoT out of all the games. Malink is logical, but emotionally, Zelink just makes more sense. And the manga agrees with me. 😌 By the way, if you’re looking for a solid Zelink fanfic that’s as good as Hunger Games or Harry Potter, I highly recommend reading Fortitude, which can be found on fanfiction.net today and maybe aa03. Still one of my top favorite reads!

@Fish2Write I’ll have to read it again sometime, it’s been so long! I read it before it was edited and then I remember when it was partially taken down to be heavily reworked! So good, and as a writer I know how satisfying/rewarding it is to come back to an old piece with a clearer vision ✨

@cantstopdiggi @TheRealLozip Funny enough I remember a lot of people complaining about TP during its era because it was “too much” like OOT, the dungeons were “too easy,” it was an ominous sign that the series was falling into a boring pattern etc etc—so I guess it was TOO MUCH of a Zelda game hahaha

Twilight princess might be the only one I can think of but that game was *aggressively* derivative. It was slightly before my presence on the internet, but allegedly there was a small but loud minority that complained this way about oot even. I do remember well into the 2000s there was a notable contingency of people who would crow about how the series could never be as good as lttp again.

The grand irony is that I do remember people arguing that Majora's mask was "not a real Zelda game" because of how "weird" it was and how it "ruined the lore".

@Silent_Teal The fact that someone in the current day would care to make the effort to obtain and play an older Zelda game should be a clear indicator that they like the series—is that not the definition of a Zelda fan? 😭

I don't usually care to say anything about posts like this, but someone doesn't need to play EVERY game to be a fan... people have lives outside of video games and will play them in their own time
