Absolute bullshit! Blumhouse didn’t even attach themselves to this film until way after its initial festival run and that’s just one of many ways to prove how false this narrative is. People are way too comfortable spreading complete nonsense with zero concern for it taking off.

I read somewhere that Blumhouse got this young kid to act as kind of a "face" for the film while a more experienced director was behind the scenes actually putting the work in. You ever hear of Milli Vanilli? Sort of like that.

@WilsonCleveland It’s just fun; I like the Mandalorian, I like Grogu, and I enjoy what’s on offer. Action was fine, the quiet moment with Grogu on his own was appreciated, and I enjoyed the soundtrack. Story was serviceable, but as far as Star Wars films go it slots into the middle of a tier list

THE MANDALORIAN & GROGU makes Phantom Menace look like EMPIRE STRIKES BACK. Cinematic anesthesia. Stakes-free. Breathtakingly boring and too cute by half. I’ve seen every Star Wars movie in theaters since I was 4. Do people like this⁉️

It wasn’t collectively hated tho. It was hijacked by people who let movies define them. It affirmed their identity or it didn’t. 2⭐️ takes are intolerable for people like that. People who derive their self-worth from subjective art. They just need you to tell them THEY’RE worthy and they’ll use box office data & RT scores to “prove” it. You’ve earned your follows from a community that values thoughtful criticism. That’s not what they want. They want certainty. You’re with them or disappoint them. Don’t let yourself be told what to feel by people who’re afraid of disappointment.
