Everyone knows what he means to this club. The fans love him, he understands the culture, and it felt like the perfect reunion waiting to happen.
But football moves quickly and if you hesitate, you lose opportunities like that.
What frustrates me most is that Liverpool didn’t act fast enough and Chelsea got the deal done before anything could change.
And I have to respect Xabi because he told me clearly he had already made his decision. Once a player says that, there’s nothing more you can do.
Still, it hurts. Because you don’t often get chances to bring someone like him back into your club.
In football, timing is everything and Liverpool missed that moment.”
