It is with great sadness that I have to share the news that Canon Gary Philbrick died this afternoon after a short illness. Gary was very greatly loved in the Diocese of Winchester and will be very greatly missed. Please do pray for Craig his son, and all his family.

Yesterday, I officially received instruments of leadership as the newest Board Member of the German nonprofit, Act for Transformation. Apparently, I become the youngest member of the Board and the only "Black" person to ever sit on it, since the organization was founded 18 years ago. In this voluntary role, I will mainly support the organization's International & Volunteer programs, and will oversee our International Office in Berlin, taking it on from my very committed friend and workmate, Alena. Although I will probably do this role for the next couple of years, I will of course continue to run projects, and support other activities of the organisation, outside the Board. My focus under this role will be, concretizing the organization's impact in countries we have already been doing some work in, such as Uganda, South Sudan, Armenia, Moldavia, Azerbaijan, Georgia and Ukraine, as well as expanding our impact to countries such as Burundi, Rwanda, Kenya and Austria. Our work on Peace education, global and intercultural learning, support for refugees and other people with a migration background and volunteer exchange program needs to reach higher / newer horizons. I must mention that, I will also use this role as an opportunity to highlight the impact that Rotaractors can have in their local and international communities. May we continue to share our light with the world. This role is a bit intimidating and to be honest, I feel a bit nervous about it (given my age and lack of extensive experience), but I hope to grow through it. It is a pleasant challenge which I am excited to take on. I thank my Act for Transformation colleagues (through the General Assembly conducted in May) for giving me this opportunity.
