@RealUdallVoice @LouiseACPrice @BikeWorcester To be fair, I didn't say it was a problem. The issue I have is the eagerness and celebrating the enforcememt of no cycling rules while the actual great risk to resident/pedestrian safety, motorvehicles, is not addressed.

@AndyLxNen @UdallVoice 2/3 journeys are under 5 miles. Roads now would be more than sufficient if we moved more of these short trips to walking & cycling. More roads = more traffic (induced demand). EVs are fine where a car is necessary, but they still have an environmental cost, as does road building.

@WinstoneSmithJR @UdallVoice The transition to EVs will solve that. It’s ridiculous to expect so many extra houses to be built in Worcester without a proportional increase in road provision.

@mikerouse Appreciate your reasoning on that. I think that it's probably more a case of it being 'better' than it was, than being 'good'.

@WinstoneSmithJR If something is delivering what it was designed to do, it’s good enough. In this case, the intention was to reduce conflicts which this does. The alternative is the road. Also, see second part of my original tweet.

The New Road cycleway isn’t brilliant but it’s good enough and has delivered results. It was requested by local County Councillors in response to concerns raised by users. I will see if we can reduce obstacles over time and improve.

BBC reports that @rishisunak won’t go to COP27. He tipped #COP president from Cabinet. What message is he sending?

@alexmace An ancient city with some mutli-lane roads carved right the way through it - plenty of space to accommodate active travel there there! Plus it might help repair some of urban streetscape by making those roads people-centric.

@UdallVoice Because it would cost 100s £m, take a decade to deliver, have huge environmental impacts and encourage more driving. Meanwhile we could very quickly and for a fraction of the cost go huge on active travel by reducing speeds, introducing LTNs and reallocating existing road space

1) I’ve just seen the planned Worcester Kepax bridge called a ‘vanity project’. I really object to that. It may well be costly, but we need more active travel infrastructure, and I see the bridge as a part of encouraging it.

We had to do a FOI request to get data. It should be on @worcscc’s website. 1.

@RightByNature @LouiseACPrice @MimBond I often think... imagine if I just went outside and started throwing bits of plastic and cardboard over my neighbours' fence while shouting really loudly. It's essentially the same thing 😂

@BikeWorcester I think there must a competition up at County Hall for who can rile cyclists up the most. Cllr Amos has been undisputed champion for years but Cllr Bayliss has well and truly thrown his hat in the ring this year. This is going to need a massive response from Alan. Stay tuned...
