I saw this on Facebook. Author: Don Green "In some ways, it is not easy to tell a church full of professing Christians that likely 50% of them are still dead in their sins and on the road to eternal perdition. But I did. To say something so unsettling like that, you better have reasons. I did. So I spoke. It’s not like I thought this audience was unique in this way. I think it’s true throughout the professing Christian church in western society. Under no circumstances is a prayerless, entertainment-intoxicated, celebrity-driven, conference-hopping, self-sufficient, mammon-loving, politics-obsessing, sin-tolerant, Scripture-intolerant, accountability-avoiding, “spiritual” culture claiming the name of Christ the mark of an enduring work of the Holy Spirit. No way. Our Lord said you would know them by their fruit. To be crystal clear, I’m talking about the professing church—not “the world out there.” And the consequences of that assessment are catastrophic for millions of souls. Matthew 7:21-23? Hello??? Repentant and mourning over sin?? Knock knock!! Anyone home?? (50%? I probably diminish the risk. But as a pastor, I have to guard against an opposite risk—unsettling the true sheep of the Shepherd.) It’s not that I don’t love the people under the sound of my ministry—including this online aspect of it. I do. But I am unwilling to give my account to God one day, having stayed silent on this when I know in my heart that it is true. So I speak. Human consequences can go to the wind. Someone—anyone—please wake up. I don’t know what else to say." ********** I have the same thoughts. But in the modern church, it is nearly a death sentence ministerially to tell people these things. If you do, you are bound to be marginalized, labeled as uncaring or unloving, harsh, blunt, etc. Well, if that's the case, then it is. Jesus said the words. The problem people have with this message is not the minister (though he usually gets blamed). It is the Savior himself. 21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ 23 And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’ (Matt. 7:21-23, ESV).
