#MovieReview #TheOdyssey OVERYHPED Rating: ⭐️⭐️1/2 The entire promotional and marketing campaign of the movie has been centred on the fact that it’s an IMAX cinematic marvel. Well yes, visually the film is really good but then there are number of #Hollywood films which have adapted this cinematic style and there isn’t any mindblowing invention per se. Of course, #ChristopherNolan bhakts will go gaga over the film, but then that’s expected out of them as well. However if watched as a standalone movie, does it provide entertainment? Well, only sporadically. The film has really long drawn scenes and at places it even bores. Worse, in the first half there are sequences where you squirm and cringe, most notably the ones with the one eyed monster and the witch - you just can’t look at screen. At places, you are even reminded of #Baahubali (more about that later), though in all fairness since Greek mythology is age old, perhaps #Rajamouli was inspired there. There is this whole swaymvar sequence too and that’s seeped into Indian mythology as well. Technically, the film is expectedly quite good with cinematography, sound design and BGM (albeit a bit weird at a couple of places) functioning well. Still, it isn’t as if you are experiencing it for the first time ever. Performances are good, though to call any of these Oscar worthy would be saying too much. Overall, the film can be watched in parts but is certainly not worth the hype. Rating: ⭐️⭐️1/2 #TutejaTalks

The last game was maybe the first time in the tournament when we saw what Messi is capable of. About 10 minutes of immense focus, drawing players out, and by that time all too late. The best few minutes of the tournament in my opinion of pure football skill (of the games I have seen).

It reminded me of a game between Brazil and Argentina in 1990 World Cup. For 80 minutes, Brazil pressed Argentina to their side of the field, but just could not find the back of the net. Maradona was not at his 86 best and for most of the game he was back with the defenders. Then at the same time Messi broke out, he did too, like a football God, drawing the Brazilians around him like a magnet, till he passed to Cannigia. That man could run. He ran around the goalkeeper and scored. And till the end of the game, Maradona was at another level, almost scoring again himself. In a few seconds he changed the entire rhythm of the game Same as Messi did against England.

The great thing about the average newslaundry reader is that when they think they are pwning the other guys they end up proving their point. No wonder they think the BJP wins by taking citizens rights away. No they win cause you are dumb as a rock.
मुनीमजी@muneeemjii

When citizens’ rights are being stripped away, courts are compromised, and every other constitutional norm is being destroyed, you want even-handedness from a subscriber funded media website. You should stick to OpIndia and Selwarajya type portals that do bhajanmandli

@Sai_swaroopa But did Krishna say whatever @nagashwin7 posted. If so, why would Krishna say so to Arjuna if its clearly established in the Mahabharata that Arjun is superior archer/warrior than Karna.

Karna-Arjuna debate is back 😊. Trying to put a contextual perspective here. Kalki film deserves a genuine appreciation at a larger level. Why? For the sheer scaled up attempt to bring the ancient past and distant future together in a civilisational spectrum. Larger positive aspects 1) Kashi is the only Urban Centre that survives 2) Ganga was the last river to dry up 3) Unhinged technological development and tech in the wrong hands only caused more and more disparity as civilisation descended to chaos and more until finally the Avatar that ends it all is conceived Finer aesthetic aspects 1) Bhagavad Gita rated as the best motivational song (Ghantasala Gari version makes it all the more endearing) by BUJJI 2) In the same scene - an unassailable hologram as a visual tribute to Atman Both were an underlying message that technology can be civilisationally compatible in the right hands. I kind of found that techno chilaka josyam scene cute as well. I am sure there are quite other bits and pieces that resonated. Now coming to the debate raging since morning. I wish Telugu Cinema grows out of Karna obsession. In his defense, @nagashwin7 wasn't the first to take this route. He wont be the last. Now even in that route, do appreciate the larger fact in Nag Ashwin gari world that Arjuna attained Swarga while Karna had to take birth to find his redemption. Arjuna did not need to. Now the scene of the villain getting Gandiva at the end might have raised brows incl mine. I hope the part 2 of this film has answers. But here I choose to appreciate the larger theme and intent of the film which is first of its kind to cast Itihaasik world in a futuristic set up. It is the start of a great creative era and @nagashwin7 is a trail blazer. We can hope that more and more enthusiastic artists enter this new sub genre and weave great stories that connect past and future. That said, in the real Itihasa consciousness, the power of Arjuna is unbeaten though. Krishna is not his safe haven but his greatest flex that he earned. While Krishna was his visible anchor, Rudra was his unseen guide even against Rudra's own Amsha that was Ashvatthama. BTW @nagashwin7 garu, in the same tramslation of Dr.Debroy, you might have found that Ashvatthama intervenes thrice to save Karna's life while I dont remember Karna returning the favour. But I do understand creative liberty 😊. Wishing the best for the second part of this duet.

No! You don’t laugh at ‘Free Palestine’ AT ALL! No reason/ no context can ever justify that. Why is it so difficult to be a little principled, a little humane and a little protective of all this? How is that negotiable!

@sabeer Confirmed from a freind who is a senior officer ( CISF) posted at Tajmahal responsible for security . Nothing sort of this happened recently. Internal Security is completely looked after by CISF and he would have known if such a thing would have happened.

I met an Indian friend this evening. He flew all the way to the Taj Mahal to propose to the love of his life. She’s not Indian. Can you believe the security and police stopped him from proposing? The police confiscated his ring. He then had to bribe the officer to get his ring back. He then snuck the ring in and proposed quietly without attracting attention. What is India becoming? An anti-love state?

Dalai Lama is provided "this travel document" (called Yellow passport) and he is not a citizen of India. What MEA folks said was technically correct that passports (all kinds of) are not a proof of citizenship. Babus are supposed to be technically correct. They are not poets.
Javed Akhtar@Javedakhtarjadu

The ministry of external affairs says that a passport is a document travel not the proof of citizen ship . Really ??? . So are they providing this travel document to some people with out being totally convinced that this person is an Indian citizen ?? . It is absurd .

@SaketGokhale For all those making fun, I’m a man of 80+ years, this was an oversight on my part due to my age. I have huge respect for our PM and feel that he is the best choice we currently have for running the country!
