Blue-leaved Stringybark open forest is one of three main vegetation communities @WombatRidgeResv. Despite a relatively sparse understory, this place is home to endangered Gang gang and Glossy black cockatoos. Swift parrots have also visited on occasion. #Biodiversity

Fantastic news for an iconic but sadly often-maligned Australian apex predator! The Victorian government is recognising the importance of dingoes! Dingoes belong in Australia’s ecology and reduce the impacts of feral cats and foxes. Read more from Prof @EuanRitchie1. 👇🏽

This is amazing and very welcome news for Wilkerr (dingoes) in Northwestern Victoria! "Effective from 14 March, the Dingo Unprotection Order will conclude in north west Victoria" premier.vic.gov.au/striking-balan… An excellent decision, @Steve_Dimo & @RosSpenceMP. Thank you!

When I’m not hunger striking, I spend a lot of time caring for 50 hectares of protected Australian bushland @WombatRidgeResv. Today I showed @DanielBleakley how echidnas raid termite mounds for food. Everything is connected in Nature. Each part of the system depends on the rest!

Has anyone else noticed how insects are disappearing? It’s good news for car windscreens. But bad news for nature and ecological security on which we humans depend. Become a citizen scientist @ISCAustralia and help keep track of bugs - both the good native ones and the baddies.
Jack Gough@JackEGough

At @ISCAustralia we love bugs, beetles & creepy crawlies, but invasive insects like fire ants are big threats to Australia's wildlife. That's why we've launched the BUGHUNT - a way for everyday Aussies to have fun & help out using @inaturalist 🐜🐞🐌🐝 👉 invasives.org.au/our-work/bug-h…

Australia's native forests are irreplaceable national treasures. My son was devastated when I showed him the devastation in Victoria. Read and share my article on why native forest logging must be stopped.👇🏽 lyrebirddreaming.com/post/australia…

The sixth mass extinction event on Earth is not just causing individual species losses. Whole branches and limbs are being brutally torn off the Tree of Life. ⁦We have a narrow window to act before it’s too late. Read more here. 👇🏽⁩ lyrebirddreaming.com/post/mutilatin…

Our cultural burning this winter has focused on protecting key assets before bushfire season. These koala trees also host a Glossy-black cockatoo nest. Careful cool burning around their base has helped protect them by reducing the risk of bushfires leaping onto their canopy.
