Should add, this is his fourth Olympics as he was an alternate with Team Gushue at the last Games. He’s just so consistent. Works so hard at his craft. And is respected globally.

Canada’s Marc Kennedy curling 92% in the victory over the Americans He’s really is an ageless wonder. At 44 years old, the oldest member of Team Canada at the Olympics. In his third Winter Games. Won gold at Vancouver 2010. And still at the top of his game.

Lithuania will stand with Ukraine - as long as it takes, whatever it takes. Our nations draw strength from each other. Throughout history, we have been united by commitment to fight for our freedom. Thank you for your visit to Vilnius, @ZelenskyyUa! 🇱🇹 🇺🇦

I am glad that @Tsihanouskaya was offered protection in Poland, but I am sad that the Lithuanian government decided to give up this important role. Sviatlana came to Lithuania in 2020, and immediately she started her work. I had the privilege to work alongside her and saw a warrior. Never relenting, never afraid, always laser-focused on her cause – the freedom of her nation. And it was never easy. There were Westerners who needed convincing, Belarusians who were not always keen on trusting her leadership, but I have seen her tirelessly convincing Western capitals not to look away from the plight of the Belarusian people. I witnessed her building coalitions within the Belarusian opposition. There was never a conference missed or a meeting skipped. There was always a voice of the free Belarusian people to be heard. She was that voice. I want to believe that democracy will win the future. I believe that not just for the sake of Belarus or other captive nations today, but for my country too. The future is uncertain for all of us. She gave me hope that if we pick up the fight, if we do not give up, if we support each other, there is a chance that we will win. And a lesson – we have truly lost only if we have given up.  And every time, wherever she would go, she would graciously mention Lithuania. After she spoke in the parliament of one European country, a senior diplomat from that country quipped that in Sviatlana we have an invaluable Lithuanian ambassador. After her speech, members of that parliament thought not only about the people of Belarus, but about my country, Lithuania, as well. That chapter of my country’s history is ending. I am glad it is to be continued in Europe, in Poland, for Sviatlana, and for democracy fighters everywhere. I am grateful for that, I wish her only the best in her continued mission for Belarus, and I will be forever thankful for all she did for Lithuania. 🔗Read more in my newsletter below.

Today, together with Diana and Their Majesties King Frederik X and Queen Mary of Denmark, we visited Lithuania’s National Defense Volunteer Forces and the Riflemen’s Union. The Lithuanian Volunteer Forces and Denmark’s Home Guard share a long-standing friendship that began at the dawn of Lithuania’s independence. Lithuanian soldiers trained atDanish military schools, exercised together, and gained their first combat experience in international peacekeeping and stabilization missions alongside Danish contingents in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, and Iraq — adopting NATO standards of military professionalism. Denmark was among the very first countriesto support Lithuania’s membership in NATO. We will never forget that. Tak, Danmark!

The democratic crackdowns in Georgia continue to seriously escalate. This is an EU candidate state! Member States finally need to get a grip and follow the @Europarl_EN recommendations on what actions to take. @EUCouncil
Formula NEWS | English@FormulaGe

Georgian Dream regime has proposed legislative amendments that would introduce criminal liability – including prison sentences of up to six years – for receiving foreign grants without prior government approval. The proposed changes would apply not only to organisations but also explicitly to private individuals. Presenting the initiative, Georgian Dream MP Irakli Kirtskhalia said that if a branch, representative office, or subdivision of a non-resident legal entity receives a grant—including from the legal entity of which it is a branch—it would be required to obtain prior consent from the Georgian government. The draft legislation also significantly broadens the definition of a “grant.” Under the proposed amendments, a grant would be defined as any funds or in-kind resources transferred by any person to any other person if those resources are used — or could potentially be used — with the intent or belief that they influence the Georgian authorities or any segment of society, or support activities aimed at shaping, pursuing, or changing Georgia’s domestic policy. In addition, amendments to the Criminal Code would introduce criminal penalties for violations of the rules established under the law on grants. According to Kirtskhalia, such violations could result in a fine, between 300 and 500 hours of community service, or imprisonment for up to six years, signaling furthering of the regime’s repression on the Georgian civil society.

Recently, at the European Parliament, Mr. Rutte said that those who think Europe could defend itself without US support are “dreaming”.  This is de facto defeatism, and it diminishes Europe’s ability to deter Putin. Bullies aren’t deterred by loud declarations of vulnerability, they are emboldened and encouraged. I feel a little uneasy watching a NATO Secretary General choose this particular communication strategy. I hear a lot about pragmatism. Mr. Rutte’s “pragmatic” approach seems to be declaring, and even exaggerating, weakness in order to justify the need for US support. But nobody was really questioning that need for that. Nobody is seriously saying Europe should choose to go it alone and burn all bridges, but some of us are saying we might not get a choice, and Mr. Rutte’s assumption that the US would split its forces to save Europe from Russia is looking more and more dreamlike as time goes on. The important question Mr. Rutte side-stepped is this: What must be done to prepare Europe to fight in the increasingly likely and terrifying scenario B, i.e. without our main ally? In the light of recent developments, it seems to me that the pinnacle of pragmatism would be to at least have an honest conversation about this very real possibility.

Just arrived in Paris, where the #CoW meeting will begin in a few hours. It is really important that European countries take part in talks on a just and sustainable peace for Ukraine. After all, these discussions are also about the future of European security as a whole. Lithuania is ready to contribute.

A year into Georgia’s mass protests, the crackdown is worsening. BBC reports a WWI-era chemical agent was used against protesters in 2024. @EU_Commission @EUCouncil - you must act and help launch an independent international investigation. Georgian Dream fears the truth.

I feel sorry for the way the KGB is leading the President of the most powerful country in the world by the nose... Putin's latest action with supposedly drones against his supposedly residence is a success for the Kremlin. But why do people fall for the KGB's bait so easily?
