Sundin and Chayka officially introduced on Monday. Leafs move up to 2nd in the draft on Tuesday. Wednesday Cooper is fired by Tampa. Friday Leafs fire Berube. Saturday Leafs hire Cooper. Would be a pretty awesome week for the Leafs

@ballards_legacy @JeffVeillette I’m definitely old enough, and as I said, I wasn’t a big fan. He indeed delivered on the big stage, he was questioned for not delivering more. And that was because he was traded for my(and everyone’s) favorite player Clark.

I know I’m beating a dead horse here but I really do not understand this retconning of Sundin as a vocal, emotional winner, other than today’s adults maybe being too young to remember that his tenure in Toronto was treated very similarly to the current crop of stars in the moment

Mats Sundin is the only man who truly knows what it takes to win in Toronto. Watching his old interviews, his answers were always flawless. He was a great leader on the ice, and he can be a great leader off the ice, I know it. There’s a lot of hate out there. As for John Chayka, he was just a kid with the Coyotes. He made mistakes. But he impressed people at a very young age, imagine what his potential is now. And guess who idolized Mats Sundin growing up… Connor McDavid. If there’s ever a chance at #97, Sundin is the guy who could make it happen. #Leafsforever

@JeffVeillette Sundin was a lot different than this crop. Contrary to your belief system, Sundin was never questioned for not showing up.
Sundin’s flaw was that he was traded for Clark.
He practically always delivered & had to play with a dead weight on 1 of his wings.

Very excited for Sundin.
Less than thrilled with Chayka.
It seems like a really odd pair and I fear the potential is high for things to go sideways.
Hope I’m wrong and they knock it out of the park; it’s just hard to see that right now.

@TalkeyHockey I’m pretty sure that the NHL, his agent or both pressured him to resign in EDM. The league couldn’t handle the optics of him leaving there & what it might mean for the franchises future.
Bad enough him leaving there, just imagine if he left for Toronto.

Look I would say this even if I wasn't a Leafs fan.
If McDavid didn't sign that extension, he would be on his way to signing with the Maple Leafs this summer.
No way in hell does he stay after what transpired this season.
