Thanks as always to our wonderful volunteers who helped clean up #woolwichcommon this morning, amazing work! We litter pick on the last Sunday of each month if you fancy joining us for a future pick. We provide everything you need.

@RockinBantam Thanks for spotting this. I think next month we will have the numbers at our pick to tackle some of these “projects” to tidy up.

@WoolwichFriends Came across an abandoned camp not far behind the hedge which runs along the east-west path today. Looks like it's been there a while. Sadly quite a bit of rubbish dumped along some of the more overgrown paths off the main circuit.

Our monthly litter pick on #woolwichcommon is this coming Sunday 29th, from 11am. We meet on the cycle path and we provide all the equipment you might need, we just want you to turn up! It’s always surprisingly fun and a lovely bunch of people.

A reminder that our usual monthly litter pick isn’t happening today, see you in March!

Unfortunately we won’t be doing a group litter pick this February, the next will be on the last Sunday of March. Thanks.

One of our busiest litter picks yet.. A huge amount collected. We had our usual array of stellar volunteers who worked so hard, but thanks in particular to the @goodgym group. Litter picks are on the last Sunday of every month. Please do join us, it makes such a difference.

We need your help again to save #woolwichcommon trees! The NHS has revised its application to fell 53 trees, accompanied by a so-called "mitigation" strategy involving sapling replanting. This is not meaningful mitigation - read more & object: friendsofwoolwichcommon.org.uk/save-trees/

These are photos of Woolwich Common today. Five hectares destroyed by ‘wild’ fire. No coin that it was August Bank holiday. Not an insect, bird or butterfly to be seen. The smell of burning was horrific.

Tomorrow - Friday 29th Aug - if you’re free why not head along to the @GGCN2023 gathering in the learning centre in Greenwich Park. Lots of free activities and great for kids!
