While the World Cup is now over, the issues it raised for workers remain. We recently shared some criticism of FIFA and the City of Toronto and got some feedback. Our focus was never about individuals who choose to volunteer, but about calling out exploitation, because workers deserve better. Until our governments take action, companies will continue to misclassify workers to boost their profits.

#StopWageTheft means closing the gaps in the law that allow wage theft to happen. Ontario’s outdated labour laws are failing workers. But it’s like we didn’t exist.” - Garick Ramsook Garick and Ramesh Ramsook are two brothers still waiting to recover more than $178,000 in stolen wages and damages owed to them by Polat Construction where they were hired as temporary foreign workers.
