@MattMahanSJ @Susan_Shelley Actually, what Mahan did was let the county bring mentally ill inmates into his $1,900/sq ft tiny homeless shelters because he had run out of funds running those shelters. Nearby residential neighborhoods now have to live with mentally ill inmates thanks to Mahan’s trick.

Actually, I negotiated to bring county mental health services onsite across our interim housing portfolio, build over 200 new in-patient treatment beds (including locked beds), and bring down the city’s costs for homeless services in a few ways, all of which made the effort a good deal for the city.
