The pack opening was the easy part. Once your cards land, the real game starts — and it's the part nobody else has. Here's what HAT-TRICK actually plays like. FORMATION + POSITION LOCKS Every slot in the eleven is position-locked. A goalkeeper card can only sit in GK, a defender only in DEF, a midfielder only in MID, a forward only in FWD. Within those rails you pick a formation that fits the cards you actually own: ▸ 4-5-1 — midfield-heavy ▸ 4-4-2 — balanced ▸ 4-3-3 — leans attack No matter how lopsided your pulls land, there's a shape that works. THREE RANDOM TRAITS PER CARD — THE NAMESAKE Before each tournament stage kicks off, every player on your XI rolls three random traits from a stat pool that fits their position. ▸ A forward rolls from things like goals, shots on target, assists, passes in the box, minutes played, pass completion %. ▸ A midfielder rolls from assists, tackles, interceptions, aerial duels won, completion %. ▸ A defender rolls from tackles, clearances, interceptions, aerial duels. ▸ A goalkeeper rolls from saves, clean sheets, and a negative goals conceded. Three traits per card. Three goals in a hat-trick. That's where the name comes from. TRAIT FIT IS THE SKILL These three traits are how a footballer's real match performance translates into your score. The skill of building a lineup is matching each card's three traits to what that footballer actually plays to: a clinical scorer's "+goals" trait pays out far harder than a "+clean sheets" trait would. Bad fit, low points. Pulling the cards is one game. Matching their traits to who they actually play to is the second — and the one that separates the table. RE-ROLL WITH $HAT — THE DEFLATIONARY SINK Don't like the three traits you rolled? Spend $HAT to re-roll before the stage starts. Re-roll is one of the protocol's primary $HAT sinks: every re-rolled stack of $HAT is burned, so demand-driven gameplay directly tightens token supply. The more competitive the user base, the harder the deflation. Skill demands tokens. Tokens fund the deflation. RARITY MULTIPLIER + READ THE SCHEDULE A card's rarity multiplies its scored points after the traits-times-stats math lands. Legendary cards score at a substantially higher multiplier than Base. A Legendary Messi pulling a "+goals" trait at the right matchday is the apex of the system, and the lineup math reflects it. This isn't fire-and-forget. Lineups only score for fixtures that ACTUALLY HAPPEN that matchday. Slot a player whose nation isn't on the pitch and his slot scores zero. The schedule rail on the squad-builder page is the real 2026 World Cup fixture list, by date and group — building a lineup without checking it is leaving free points to your competitors. TWO PAYOUT LAYERS Every matchday's points roll up into two reward streams. 1 · PER-STAGE $HAT EMISSION Group → R32 → R16 → QF → SF → Final. At the end of each stage, the protocol pays out $HAT proportional to every user's stage score. A direct conversion from points to tokens. 2 · GRAND PRIZE POOL Cumulative points across the whole season rank you against the entire network. Top-ranking lineups split the grand prize pool, which fills throughout the season from pack-sale share, the NFT trade tax, and the Uniswap v4 hook on every $HAT swap.
