You can't manage what you don't measure 🐟 The WorldFish Mekong Fisheries Conservation team just wrapped training for partners & community members across the Lower Mekong and Tonle Sap—building skills in fish ecology, catch monitoring & data collection. Together, they explored fish ecology, learned how to use catch monitoring tools, and built practical skills in data collection to support better, more sustainable fisheries management. #AquaticFoods #FoodSystems #BlueEconomy #Aquaculture #FoodSecurity #NutritionSecurity #Livelihoods #ClimateChange #SharedProsperity #Mekong #Cambodia

📋 We need your input! 🐟 School meals can be a powerful driver of food system transformation — and aquatic foods deserve a seat at the table. Help shape the evidence. Take this short survey on aquatic foods in school meal programs 👇 on.cgiar.org/4c7tgPs This research is led by the Institute of Marine Research (IMR), FAO Fisheries and Aquaculture Division, and partners. All responses are confidential and used solely for research purposes.

🌾Feed can make up to 70% of fish farming costs—making it the biggest barrier for small-scale farmers across Sub-Saharan Africa. WorldFish is changing that by working directly with local feed millers, who are already embedded in farming communities to turn cutting-edge research into affordable, accessible products on the ground. 🐠 📖 Learn more: worldfishcenter.org/blog/turning-f… #AquaticFoods #FoodSystems #BlueEconomy #Aquaculture #FoodSecurity #NutritionSecurity #Livelihoods #ClimateChange #SharedProsperity #Africa

🌾 When climate shocks hit, resilient farmers stand strong Across Odisha, India, fish farming communities are facing growing threats from extreme weather, erratic monsoons, and rising temperatures. But with the right support, they're not just surviving — they're thriving. WorldFish's OIIPCRA project (Odisha Integrated Irrigation Project for Climate Resilient Agriculture) is transforming how smallholder aquaculture farmers adapt to a changing climate. 📖 Read the full publication: worldfishcenter.org/publication/cl… #ClimateResilience #Aquaculture #OIIPCRA #Odisha #India #FoodSystems #ClimateAdaptation #BlueEconomy #WorldFish #SustainableDevelopment

🐟 Years of feed research. One practical question: how do farmers actually use it? The FASA project's answer: a digital feed formulation tool — built for fish farmers in Nigeria, Zambia & Kenya, designed to work in the real world. The app backend is already in development. 18 months to deliver. With @noradno, @CORAFNews, @IITA_CGIAR, @icipe, Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU) 📖 Read more about it: worldfishcenter.org/updates/fasa-p…

💡 Wrapping up 3 days in Timor-Leste 🇹🇱 under AABS Partners from Timor-Leste, Tanzania, and Mozambique came together for a highly productive exchange on the future of digital fisheries systems as part of a knowledge exchange program under AABS funded by the UK government through #FCDO. This was held under the IKAN Adapt project, funded by the @theGEF and @FAO. 📝Key takeaway: collaboration matters. Data + partnerships → better fisheries outcomes. #AABS #FCDO #DigitalInnovation #Fisheries #KnowledgeSharing #DigitalFisheries #BlueEconomy #TimorLeste #FisheriesManagement

🐟 Small-scale fisheries aren’t marginal, they’re undercounted and under-supported. In a recent Dialogue Earth piece featuring scientist Gianna, it was found that fishers are facing growing pressures from climate change and commercial competition. They provide ~40% of global catch & support ~500M livelihoods yet remain overlooked in policy. Inclusive aquaculture leads to stronger and more productive aquatic food systems 🙋‍♀️🙋‍ Across aquatic food systems, women make up a significant share of the workforce, yet many still face barriers. This includes accessing resources, training, and decision-making opportunities. By supporting more inclusive policies, building capacity, and strengthening partnerships, aquaculture can deliver better outcomes for communities, livelihoods, and food security. 🐟 Read more: worldfishcenter.org/updates/inclus… #AquaticFoods #FoodSystems #BlueEconomy #Aquaculture #FoodSecurity #NutritionSecurity #Livelihoods #ClimateChange #SharedProsperity #Zambia
