💊 Non-adherence is widespread, but it isn’t inevitable. Evidence shows that what happens at treatment initiation plays a critical role in long-term adherence. This #WorldAdherenceDay, we’re encouraging healthcare professionals to treat adherence as a modifiable risk factor and support patients from day one.

Prof. Jagat Narula MD PhD, President, @worldheartfed (World Heart Federation), delivers the keynote “Ageing and CVD: What you sow, so shall you reap…”, highlighting that cardiovascular health in later life is shaped by choices, care, and policy across the life course.
His key message: investing in cardiovascular prevention today determines how we age tomorrow. CARDIO-India aims to translate this evidence into scalable action for older adults in India.

🫀Your heart responds to emotions like love, fear, and stress. These feelings can change its rate and rhythm. In some cases, intense emotional stress can temporarily weaken the heart, a condition known as broken heart syndrome.
It happens when a sudden shock like grief, heartbreak, or extreme fear affects how the heart pumps. The good news? In most cases, it’s reversible, and the heart recovers with time and care.

🧑🚀A study of 12 astronauts by NASA found that during long periods in microgravity, the heart becomes more spherical as it adapts to a gravity-free environment. This change appears to be temporary, with the heart returning to its normal shape shortly after astronauts return to Earth.
While a more spherical heart may work less efficiently, the long-term health effects are still unknown.
