1/6🌱Fundo Flora is investing $3.35 million USD to support 10 locally led restoration projects in Pará, Brazil. Together, they are uniting 26 organizations to restore 1,500 hectares, grow 1 million trees, and benefit 4,000 people. These projects are naturally regenerating the forest and strengthening value chains built on the Amazon’s native species — such as açaí, cocoa, Brazil nuts, andiroba, and copaiba. 🌱 Better insight into how trees are growing, powered by the most accurate global tree height data yet, can help unlock new sources of restoration finance. By integrating DINOv3, Meta’s new open-source AI vision model, into our Global Tree Canopy Height model, we can now measure the height of individual trees globally with greater accuracy than ever before, and that is especially important for monitoring the early stages of a restoration intervention. This update showed substantial performance gains when compared to ground truth measurements (R² 0.53 → 0.86). The result is a sharper view of how sites are developing over time, strengthening the evidence base behind new and existing funding opportunities. Natural Asset Companies seek to align finance with conservation and restoration rather than just conversion and extraction. They also aim to recognize the full suite of ecosystem services that healthy landscapes provide, rather than monetizing only a narrow subset (such as via carbon, water or biodiversity credits).
