You just named four guys that the Pirates would want for Skenes. Also, part of the trade is going to do with where Skenes prefers to go, and the guy lives in New York during the offseason. Saw him at multiple clubs in the city this year. We have the prospects, and the young major league talent to get him.

This is outrageous lmao. Skenes is also not untouchable in any way. Pittsburg isn't going to pay him enough and they're going to have to trade him before he hits free agency. There's no better time to trade him than when he's 23 coming of a Cy Young and one of the best pitching seasons in recent history. It would take a lot obviously, but if you've ever seen a star get traded in the MLB you know that it's never going to be 15 guys.

Schlittler, LaGrange, Lombard, ECR, Jones, Dominguez, Rice, Wells, Volpe, Warren, Weathers, Cabrera, Jazz, Dax, Hampton MIGHT get Pittsburgh to not hang up the phone right away. That said, Skenes is untouchable.

The only thing we haven't seen is a playoff appearance, but if we learned anything from his LSU college world series outing against Rhett Lowder, the biggest spot only makes him better.

@elxysmile @SleeperYankees @JonHeyman If we're prepared to pay Skubal then that's fine, but Skenes makes more sense. He's younger, and the contract matches up to where Stanton, and Cole will be coming off the books soon after we pay Skenes. Can't go wrong with either guy, but need to get one.

Exactly my point. A guy who’s thrown 8 MLB games has nasty stuff but terrible misses. Or the guy who one rookie of the year and looked essentially unhittable in a full healthy season but some control issues. They’re definitely close but Hil being in Triple-A and being very close to your number 2 says a lot. Granted Gil should be in the rotation but still.
