Also from PMQs, the £14bn figure in extra school spending is being wheeled out again. It's actually an increase of £7.1bn by 2022-23, according to IFS and the Treasury, as spelt out by the Chancellor when announced: hansard.parliament.uk/commons/2019-0…

Wouldn’t it be brilliant if we had a National integrated, cross departmental Marmot Strategy supporting ALL public services to focus on supporting strong healthy communities. Instead we invent disparate “initiatives” that deal with the symptoms of inequality not the real causes.

@DonnaLFerguson @MaryBoustedNEU @NEUnion @WorthLessFF Worth reporting the fact that this y11 cohort were first without Levels at Key Stage 2 so very hard to compare prior attainment with any previous year group. How are schools going to compare with previous courts when the measures are different? Wll lead to more inconsistency.

I think that this is a crucial area going forward. Assessment reform, children's mental health, coherent and sufficient wraparound care will be vital or else schools will just resume the default '4th emergency service' role again

For the life of me, I cannot understand why we are not investing more in the first two years of life. Get that wrong and we're forever playing the catch-up game. Billions spent on consultants, but pennies on our youngest children and effective parenting.
