Finally, after 10 years of hope and tireless struggle for justice and for the Lenca people, international experts from the GIEI have shed light on the crime against Berta Cáceres. Her murder was not an isolated crime. It was the result of a power structure in which corporate interests, state security forces and international funding converged to impose the Agua Zarca hydroelectric project. Hearing disturbing news that Egyptian HRD Ahmed Douma has been summoned for the 7th time since he was freed on presidential pardon in 2023. He was previously freed on bail but this time is held in custody pending investigation on the usual charges of “spreading false news.” The authorities must close all the cases against him and end this harassment. @PMEgypt_Geneva

❗️ Regime has annulled the passport of Ales Bialiatski It has been revealed that the passport of Ales Bialiatski, founder of @viasna96 and #NobelPeacePrize laureate, has been declared invalid. The document was originally valid until 2028. Ales Bialiatski considers this decision to be both arbitrary and illegal: "This is another form of transnational repression aimed at making life difficult for deported political prisoners outside the country. The authorities are ritually cutting our ties with Belarus. It is a futile effort, as Belarus will always be in our actions and our hearts." The annulment of passports for #politicalprisoners forcibly removed from #Belarus is becoming a systemic practice.
