Writhlington CCF

Congratulations to our cadets for an impressive Biennial Inspection on Wednesday. Attended by Lt Col Olly Bevan, Commanding Officer of 6th Battalion The Rifles, cadets displayed their skills and knowledge in a number of activities. The event was a celebration of their hard work.

Lt Eggleton is having a great time in Norway this week! He is currently on a 4 day expedition in south of the country. The second picture is a fantastic view from Ramneknuten, near Gaukhei.

Come and join Writhlington School Combined Cadet Force! Our CCF Open Evening will be held on Wednesday 18 June from 6:30–8:00pm. This will be a chance for all current students to find out more information and to have a go at the array of activities we do at cadets!

Following a Contingent restructure, we have two promotions to share! RSM Pearcy and Sergeant Major Hart. SM Hart will work closely with RSM Pearcy, looking after all the cadets in our Contingent and upholding the high values and standards of Writhlington CCF.

Another sunny week of Easter Camp at Longmoor Training Camp is complete! Over the past 6 days, cadets have taken part in a week long inter-section competition where the cadets could win points to add to their overall scores. Well done to all cadets who attended!

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT📣 There will be no CCF tomorrow (Wednesday 8 January) due to the forecasted snow. Training will start next Wednesday, 15 January. Information regarding the upcoming ACS weekend will be emailed directly to parents/carers by the end of this week.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them.

Finally, congratulations to Sjt Mallon, Cpl Grippa, Cpl Rose, LCpl Westwood, LCpl Shave and LCpl Spear for a fantastic performance on our Senior Fieldcraft Weekend. Six very well deserved promotions!

We have recently appointed our Contingent Serjeant Major. CSM Pearcy will become our Senior Cadet, looking after our Contingent. We have also appointed our first Cadet Under Officer, CUO Endicott. As a 4* complete cadet, he will now be delivering training to the cadets.

We had a very successful Senior Fieldcraft weekend this week. Well done to all of the cadets who attended, maximum effort was put in by all culminating in a great platoon attack at first light! Thank you to volunteers from @SomersetACF for playing our enemy @Lt_Col_Marshall

An update from Ex Oakleaf in Canada! Sjt Endicott is having a great time, he said ‘My first days at camp have been really good. We have been sectioned into platoons and integrated into the Canadian Expedition Team Leader programme (ETL).’ armycadets.com/county-news/ca…

After 7 years “at the helm” of @WrithlingtonCCF, last week I stood down as Contingent Commander. It was with pleasure that I handed over to Captain Mason! I have been a member of Writhlington CCF since I was a student @WrithlingtonSch as has Captain Mason.

Good luck to Sjt Gil Endicott who is currently on his way to Canada for Ex Oak Leaf. Gil travelled to CTC Frimley Park yesterday and is now on his way to Canada. During his 4 week trip, Gil will take part in a 12 day expedition & adveturous training package.

A great week at summer camp! The cadets took part in a two day fieldcraft exercise, a range day and a day with NCOs from 5 Rifles. Well done to all cadets and to those who were promoted and received their star badges!
