Krakauer obere Bürgerschicht war wirklich bis zum 15.Jh. hauptächlich deutsch. Interessanterweise sind sie im laufe des 16. Jhs vollständig polonisiert. Es gibt einen Sprachführer aus 1539 für deutsche Mädchen die Polnisch lernen um sich mit Bauern auf dem Markt auf polnisch verständigen zu können. @Breitenmarkt @GanzeGeschichte Bad analogy. Copernicus wasn't a foreign collaborator like Nazi-puppet Tiso. He was a canon in Royal Prussia (Kingdom of Poland), defending Warmia/Olsztyn against Teutonic invasion in 1520-21 as Polish subject. Born in Toruń (Polish Crown), loyal to Polish king.

In fact, the Polish language was introduced into print by Kasper Elyan ("natione Polonus" from Głogów and Polkowice), the first Polish printer, in Wrocław in 1475. Jan Haller studied at the Kraków Academy. It's also worth remembering that words like "mauer, ziegel, straße, vogt, schreiben" in German come from Latin, as the German-speaking people were merely copyists and carriers of the culture of the Romanized Franks...

Nein, 1475 wurde ein lateinisches Buch gedruckt mit polnischen Passagen. Nachdem 1450 der Buchdruck in Mainz erfunden worden war, waren die Deutschen weltweit Pioniere in dieser Technik. 1508 hat der Deutsche Johann Haller aus Rothenburg o.d.T. dann das erste Buch gedruckt, das vollständig in polnischer Sprache war.
