@molecularmusing Super strange phenomenon going around where people are posting online and even "bragging" about the fact that they don't understand their own code anymore after using AI. Probably in a "I didn't even have to lift a finger!" kind of way but they are really telling on themselves.

I find this extremely worrying, with many of people I respect saying things like "I no longer write code" or "let LLMs do it".
Why did you start programming? Was it never the journey for you, but only the goal?
I genuinely want to understand this, I seem to be the odd one out.

@molecularmusing I'm a love-of-da-game programmer and AI will likely never be a part of the fulfillment I get out of it. I also don't like how a lot of those models are trained off of licensed open source code with zero attribution.

Now is the perfect time to write your own engine. The argument in the past was that you don't have time to write all the less important generic features. Now, the LLM will do that for you. You can focus on things that differentiate your product.

@copenseethen I haven't used flash actually! I animated this with a mixture of Clip Studio and After Effects.
Before that I used to use Photoshop/Sai and After Effects.
I also programmed a whole site of After Effects plugins and tools for myself to accomplish the pixel-style better.

I notice there are waves of vibecoded project ideas going on, like the same 4 or 5 ideas for a few months all made by different people.
ASCII-art filter dithering filter, VHS filter, etc. And everyone is charging for a "Pro" version and their websites all kinda look the same😵💫

These past few months I've been completely disillusioned by games. Nothing was clicking with me. Everything felt the same and it was all so boring.
These past two weeks have been absolutely bonkers. Banger after banger. I'm juggling 4 games right now. Gaming is so back baby
