With >65% of the votes in, Noboa is leading by a comfortable margin in the 2nd round of Ecuador's presidential race. Somewhat surprising given the close result in the 1st round & pre-election polling. Interested to unpack the results & see where he picked up support.

@IntOrgJournal Second, these results highlight the need to address the economic incentives for conflict in parallel with the political. Colombia's agreement included a crop substitution plan, but it wasn't given the resources to succeed, leaving a vacuum the splinter groups filled. (9/n)

@IntOrgJournal These results have policy implications. First, getting top leaders to agree to a peace accord is important, but we also need to anticipate the potential for middle and lower-level commanders to defect and design incentives and safeguards accordingly. (8/n)
