Kita import minyak mentah bernilai RM54 bilion, hanya eksport RM24 bilion menjadikan defisit minyak mentah RM30 bilion. Kita eksport LNG RM51.6 bilion, kita hanya import RM6.2 bilion, menjadikan surplus RM45.4 bilion. Hasil LNG yang sebenarnya indirectly menampung subsidi petrol, diesel, LPG, piped gas (bekalan elektrik). Tanpa gas asli/LNG, nasib kita mungkin sama macam negara lain.

Ini juga orang tak faham sangat. Kita guna 14.752 juta tan petrol setahun (final consumption) Refineries kita hanya hasilkan 3.77 juta tan petrol atau 25% sahaja daripada keperluan domestik. 1.48 juta tan kita eksport jadi hanya 2.29 juta tan yang tinggal. Selebihnya 11.76 juta tan petrol kita import dari luar negara mainly Singapore & China. Refineries kita lebih banyak hasilkan Diesel berbanding Petrol. Minyak mentah yang kita import 70% daripada Middle East hanya sebahagian cerita. Produk petroleum (petrol, diesel, fuel jet, bunker fuel) yang kita import sebahagian lagi cerita.

Konflik di Asia Barat telah memberi kesan kepada bekalan tenaga global, termasuk Malaysia. Berikut adalah gambaran situasi semasa dan langkah yang sedang diambil.
