A new post by @fcmartinelli appeared on the @Balancer forum, sharing his thoughts on the protocol’s future. Here’s a quick summary for those with diminished attention spans. 👇 Balancer v2 has already proven to be the place for developers to experiment with new and innovative AMM designs permissionlessly. Protocols like @GyroStable and @XaveFinance can quickly tap into Balancer’s network, integrations, and incentivization mechanism. v3 will make it even easier for new protocols to build on top of Balancer by removing a ton of complexity, resulting in a 10x improvement for developers. It also introduces hooks, which opens up brand-new design possibilities. The vision is for Balancer v3 to focus on fungible and yield-bearing liquidity. Concentrated liquidity, pioneered by Uniswap, has proven successful for major pairs like ETH-USDC but is rarely practical for the long tail of tokens and lacks composability. As more projects launch, that long tail is growing larger each day. Meanwhile, Gyroscope’s E-CLPs provide a great option for stablecoin projects. Balancer v2 already emphasizes liquidity for yield-bearing tokens, but the vision is for v3 to take this even further. v3 reimplements boosted pools that direct 100% of LP liquidity to onchain lending markets while abstracting this from users and utilizing a buffer to ensure gas efficiency. For LPs to further increase profitability, minimizing MEV is essential. Balancer v3 aims to reclaim MEV for LPs by partnering with intent-centric projects, most notably @CoWSwap. Their recent proposal would create a strategic partnership between the two protocols and a plan to build COWAMM on top of Balancer. There’s a lot to be excited about within the Balancer ecosystem: deploying on more chains, an updated UI, new partners building innovative AMMs, and v3, which is expected to launch in Q4 this year. 2 years later, @SnapshotLabs is still the most used governance tool, and LBPs now run and expanded on by @FjordFoundry are still the most used token launchpad. Balancer v2 also simplified the AMM design space for external developers bringing two new AMMs (@GyroStable E-CLPs and @XaveFinance's FX Pools) to market. Builders will build.
