#ALERT: Al-Shabaab Militants Overrun Four Government Military Bases Near the Coastal Town of Warsheekh Fighters from the Islamist group Al-Shabaab launched coordinated ground assaults at dawn on Sunday , overrunning and seizing at least four military bases held by Somalia’s Federal Government forces on the outskirts of Warsheekh district. The bases taken over are located in the areas of Jabad-Godane, Ruun-Shiikhow, Shaasqaad and Burka Kaah. Sources say all four positions are now under the control of Al-Shabaab fighters, who remain present at the sites. the militants reportedly captured a significant number of military vehicles, while others were set ablaze with reports of multiple deaths and injuries, though exact figures have not been independently confirmed. According to security sources, the targeted bases were manned by different units of the Somali National Army, including Danab special forces, Gorgor brigade troops, other special forces units, and locally recruited macawisley fighters assembled by the Federal Government. The militant group has also released photographs which it says show its fighters in control of four of the villages where the bases were located. Analysts warn that the developments could place the coastal town of Warsheekh at increased risk, as all key defensive positions surrounding the town are reported to have fallen into the hands of Al-Shabaab fighters. the claims and images released by the group have not been independently verified, and there has been no immediate response from the Somali government.
