In #English we have been thinking about the feelings of the characters from ‘Lost and Found’. The children worked in pairs to ‘hot seat’ as the characters and ask questions.

In #Maths this week we are looking at measuring items using paper clips and cubes (non-standard units). Our favourite was measuring our shoes!

We love #Maths in @Y1OPS and we love practicing our number fluency skills

We had an assembly from #Retfordlibrary Did you know you can borrow up to 24 books for 3 weeks for free? We enjoyed listening to the story too.

Today in #English we have been getting ready to write our own postcards as Sunny the meerkat from the story ‘Meerkat Mail’. We worked with a partner to write about what it would be like if he visited the Amazon Rainforest and used adjectives.

During RSHE we have been talking about Online Safety. The children understood that some things online are not suitable for them and to tell a trusted grown up if they are unsure about something they see. #onlinesafety #rshe

In #English today we read our new story #MeerkatMail. We then sequenced the story

Look at our fantastic artwork! During our Art lessons we have been learning about the artist, Julien Opie and we have created a piece of artwork in his style. #art

In #Art we have been painting our background for our Julian Opie inspired portrait. We stroked with our paintbrushes to give a smooth finish.

In #Maths we have moved on to counting in 10s and the children had to work out which pictures showed 30 and which did not. There was no tricking @Y1OPS

Today we sketched our self-portraits in the style of the artist Julian Opie. @Y1OPS used simple shapes to represent their facial features.

In #English we have been writing our own non-chronological report about mammals, fish, birds, reptiles and amphibians. Look at these lovely samples of some of the fantastic writing they have created.

In #Maths we have looked at related facts and fact families. @Y1OPS have done great job of applying their addition and subtraction skills to this.

For our #RSHE learning we have look at recycling and how we can look after our environment. @y1ops had fun doing an independent learning activity to check the children’s understanding.

A @Y1OPS pupil extended their learning during the weekend and went to a collier museum to see what jobs were like in the past #history #retfordinthepast They shared what they collected while they were there and we looked at photos from their experience
