In Year 3 DT lessons, we have been making our own toys using a pneumatic system. Check out the start of the process. Stay tuned to see the next stages within the construction process, happening soon!

For our latest theme ‘Magical Metals’ we have been learning all about forces! We explored magnets and discovered what materials were magnetic around our classroom. We also looked at different types of forces all around us, such as friction and gravity.

Check out Year 3’s Iron Age roundhouses! We used clay and straw to replicate the real deal!

Year 3 trip to Buster Ancient Farm! We had such a great day exploring the round houses, becoming archaeologists, spinning wool and making jewellery. @butserfarm

Check out some of the fabulous learning we did last half term for our theme ‘I’m a child of the Modern Age, get me out of here!’ From looking at rocks and soils, learning about the Stone Age, building caves, acting out stories and so much more! @fircroftSW17

Today’s Rainforest Cafe was a ‘Tropical Smash’! We sold our own tropical smoothies (mostly giving the correct change), enjoyed some ‘picnic-style’ drawing and even watched a play about the dangers of deforestation. Thank you all for making it a wonderful afternoon! @fircroftSW17

Such a glorious ☀️day to celebrate #OutdoorClassroomDay. We spent our maths lesson in the Garden Hub, challenging our knowledge of time!

This week we used food colouring to investigate how the xylem transports water in celery. We loved dissecting the celery sticks and drawing diagrams of what we observed. #science #transpiration #hungryforknowledge @fircroftSW17

Thanks @kewgardens for a terrific day! Your grounds were great for some sketching and set the scene perfectly for a play (written & performed by some of our very own) about #deforestation. We then learnt so much exploring the hot, humid tropics with your fab guides! @fircroftSW17

This week we were inspired by ‘The Vanishing Rainforest’ to write poetry. We then used some top tips by @MichaelRosenYes to perform our poems. This one blew us away! #performancepoetry #rainforest #deforestation @fircroftSW17

@anjgoswami visited us this afternoon to share her work as a #paleontologist with the @NHM_London. We got to touch a leg bone fossil that once belonged to a #titanosaurus 🦕We also learnt that palaeontologists love to find & cut up coprolites - fossilised poo 😆 @fircroftSW17

We started today the best way possible, with a #PerformancePoetry workshop with Michael De Souza. We loved learning his rhymes and performing them for each other. Thank you for inspiring us @DaOriginalMDS! @fircroftSW17

How lovely to have our #FircroftFamily join us to talk about their fruit import business today AND bring us some delicious samples! Did you know that it takes about 10 days for oranges to travel from their trees in Spain to a London supermarket? #Geography #Trade @fircroftSW17
