Howard was a 6th rounder who could use another year of learning and developing. Allar not even close to ready to get thrown in there

@YinzUp Win what? 9-11 games and not a playoff game? That just delays the inevitable. The sooner we actually commit to figuring the QB spot out, the sooner you can ACTUALLY win. Long term.

Honestly man.. I know for the sake of competing THIS year, Rodgers is the guy for the Steelers. But I’d prefer not having him back. Not because he sucks. He’s fine for 9-11 wins. But I wanna see the youth play. Let’s rip the bandaid off and see what we have.

Sources: the Steelers placed the rare right-of-first-refusal tender on Aaron Rodgers, meaning that he can accept a 10 percent raise off last year’s salary, which would pay him about $15 million this season, and the Steeelrs also now will have the right to match any offer sheet he would sign with another team. As another condition of the tender, Rodgers would only be able to sign with the Steelers once training camp begins.

@MattLight You’ll see it real quick in camp. Some say he’s already top 5 arm strength in NFL which I’d agree with. Allar is a shiny toy for McCarthy to develop. Same size as Josh Allen, elite arm, poor footwork which causes the inconsistency. Also, PSU RPO offense didn’t fit him

@YinzUp @DrewHannis Panics in the pocket, very inconsistent, misses easy throws, makes mistakes in big moments. Does have a Cannon though and size like Josh Allen. Would be a major project

@DrewHannis Can you tell me why people don't like Allar? I personally don't like him because he plays for PSU but I don't know anything about his game. I just watched his 2025 highlights and he seems solid in the pocket. Doesn't seem to be very mobile which I would like to see.

@YABOYERUM I never wanted him as the HC. But I would like to see how he did as an OC. The rams passing game is the bright point of their offense. If the Steelers could have a passing game like that I would be thrilled.

@ZPSteelers2 Oh if it was just a couple of months ago you could be right. I was thinking around the time/shortly after he left Pittsburgh to go to Minnesota. I assumed that Tomlin let him walk because he doesn't like anyone competing for his job.

Pittsburgh is going to end up with like the 17th pick in a draft where it's highly unlikely for there to be a viable answer at quarterback sitting there at the 17th pick.
And the cost of going up into the top three to jump Vegas and Cleveland exceeds the points value of every single pick they would have in rounds 1-4 combined.
We can all see the Kyler trade coming from a mile away.
